The Vinyl Vine

GLOBAL RECORD STORE CRAWL

Built by collectors, growing with every shop someone adds. Every listing here started as somebody's real find — plan your crawl, track your spending, and help the next digger find their way.

Welcome to The Vinyl Vine

This isn't just a directory — it's a running list built by people who actually dig. Everything you see here started as someone's real find, and it keeps growing every time someone adds to it.

Find your next stop. Search by city, genre, or use your location to see what's nearby.
Plan a vinyl trip. Browse hand-picked destinations, follow the route, and collect a stamp for every city you dig.
Plan a crawl. Build a route, split it with friends, and log what you find along the way.
Dig together. Join a public crawl, take on a challenge, and tell us when a shop's hours change.
Add what you know. Found a shop that's not listed? Add it — submissions are reviewed before they go live, so the directory stays reliable.

A note on sharing: crawls you build and stores you submit become visible to others using this app — that's the whole point, but worth knowing going in.

Vinyl Tourism

Road trips

Chain destinations into a multi-day trip, pick a hotel for each night, and turn the whole thing into a crawl for every city.

Own or work at a shop?

Claim your shop (it's free), then open the Artists & RSD tab and tick "We take part in Record Store Day." Your shop card gets a Record Store Day badge, and your shop shows up here. The badge expires after a year unless you confirm it again.

Participation is reported by each shop. Check the official Record Store Day site for dates and the official list, and ask the shop what it will have. The Vinyl Vine isn't affiliated with Record Store Day.

Store Directory

2132 verified shops across 1066 cities, gathered from live search. Shops move and hours change — call ahead. Somewhere not listed? Use "Add a store" below and a moderator will review it.

Submissions are reviewed before they go live, so what you add here won't appear immediately — thanks for helping keep the directory accurate.

Want List

The records you're actually hunting for. Rank by priority so you know what to ask about first.

My Crawls

Choose your stops, set a budget, optimize the route, and mark stores off as you go — everything for a trip lives in one place.

For a spot to eat or grab a drink between shops. This isn't part of the record store directory — it's just added to this one crawl.

Your crawls

Start from a template

Curated crawls built from stores already in the directory. Pick one, then rename and tweak it before you save.

Group crawls

Turn any crawl above into a group crawl to get a join code. Everyone who joins sees the same live route and can mark themselves as coming — no separate copies to keep in sync.

Field Guide

Reference material for the actual store visit — grading, gear, and etiquette.

Condition grading (Goldmine standard)

GradeWhat it means
Mint (M)Perfect in every way — still sealed or never played. Rare in a used bin; be skeptical if a seller claims it.
Near Mint (NM/M-)Looks unplayed. No visible marks, sleeve is crisp. This is the realistic ceiling for most used finds.
Very Good Plus (VG+)Light signs of handling — a few faint hairlines under light, minor sleeve wear. Should still play nearly silent.
Very Good (VG)Visible surface wear and some audible background noise, but plays through without skipping. The everyday "good copy."
Good / Good Plus (G/G+)Noticeable noise, possible light scuffs affecting sound. Fine for a cheap fill-in, not a keeper.
Fair / PoorHeavy wear, likely skips or distorts. Only worth it for ultra-rare titles you'll never see again.

    Store visit etiquette & tips

    Check the runout groove

Matrix/etched numbers near the label tell you the pressing plant and often the pressing generation — useful for spotting originals vs. reissues.

    Inspect under raking light

Tilt the record under a light at a low angle rather than straight on — hairline scratches and warps show up far more clearly.

    Ask before the listening station

Most shops are happy to spin a record for you, especially for a pricier buy — just ask, don't assume it's self-serve.

    Bring cash

Independent shops often prefer cash or have a card minimum, especially for cheap $1–5 bin finds.

    Ask what's not out yet

New arrivals often sit behind the counter unsorted while staff price them — asking can get you first pick.

    Mind the shipping math

If you're flying, heavy or fragile finds may be cheaper to ship home than to carry — ask if the shop offers it.

This app is a personal travel companion, not a professional appraisal tool — grading is always somewhat subjective, and it's worth confirming condition with the seller directly before you buy.
